Weeds have a way of taking over fast. What starts as a few stragglers between your garden beds turns into a full-on mess - crowding out your plants, killing the look of your yard, and making the whole space feel neglected. That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The side beds were packed with weeds pushing through old, broken-down mulch. The back beds weren't much better.
We started by getting everything cleared out. Full weeding across the front, sides, and back - pulling weeds down to the root so they weren't just getting knocked back, they were actually gone. Once the beds were clean, we laid down high-quality weed barriers before any mulch went in. That step matters a lot. Without a proper barrier, you're basically just buying yourself a few extra weeks before the weeds come back.
Then came the shredded cypress mulch. We went with cypress specifically because it holds up well, resists decay longer than a lot of other options, and gives garden beds that rich, finished look that really ties a yard together. We applied it across every bed - front, sides, and back - with even coverage throughout. We also applied weed control on top of the barrier for an extra layer of protection.
The difference between the before and after here is night and day. The side passage that was wall-to-wall weeds is now clean and covered. The back corner beds along the fence look intentional and well-kept. Even the areas around the decorative water fountain and the trimmed shrubs out front got the same treatment - consistent mulch coverage that makes the whole property feel pulled together instead of patchy and overgrown.
This is the kind of work that doesn't just look good right away - it saves you hours of weeding down the road. Between the weed barrier, the weed control application, and the cypress mulch layer, this yard is set up to stay cleaner for a lot longer without constant maintenance.
